Our handy introduction to vaping answers all the popular questions

Since e-cigarettes have been shown to be a healthier option than traditional cigarettes, more and more people are switching to them. This helpful guide for new users should provide the answers to your most important questions if you’re considering making the switch.

What is an e-cigarette?

An electronic cigarette is a tobacco smoking substitute that simulates the sensation of smoking a cigarette by producing a vapour mist. For those who are just starting out, on a tight budget, or want to make a big splash, there are numerous varieties available.

What are the benefits of e-cigarettes versus regular cigarettes?

Over 4,000 chemicals, including 400 other toxins and 43 carcinogenic compounds, are found in regular cigarette smoke. These include formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, DDT, nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide.

Since e-cigarettes don’t burn, they don’t produce ash, smoke, tar, or other harmful substances. Thankfully, they also don’t smell like ordinary cigarettes. and are generally believed to present no threat to onlookers.

Our well-liked guide to vaping mythology goes into further detail on these and many other subjects.

What is an atomiser?

Today’s vapers have access to a wide variety of atomizers. They use heat to vaporize e-liquid while resting atop an e-cigarette battery. For seasoned vapers who desire complete control over their vaping experience, they can be rebuildable, self-contained, and disposable, or they can use coils that can be replaced.

What is a coil?

These form the core of your vaping apparatus. Typically, a manufactured coil (formerly called wicks) consists of a tiny wire wound around cotton. The cotton is soaked in e-liquid, which is converted to vapor by the battery heating the wire.

A coil’s resistance, which indicates how much current it will permit to flow through it, is measured in ohms. You will produce more vapour and taste your vape juice more intensely if the resistance is reduced because more heat will be produced. The drawback is that your battery life will be shortened and you will use more e-liquid.

What is sub ohm vaping?

This phrase may be familiar to you from the vaping community. It’s likely that a fellow vaper is sub ohming if you’ve witnessed them creating enormous clouds. Sub-ohm vaping was only available to people who constructed their own coils and altered their batteries a few years ago. These days, capable batteries, pre-built coils, and sub-ohm tanks are frequently sold off the shelf.

You can increase the amount of vapour that comes out of your coil in two main ways. The first way to raise the heat is to increase the battery’s power, but there are limits to how much power you can apply to the coil before it simply stops producing more vapor and becomes extremely hot. Your coil will get burned by this, which is not pleasant!

With a resistance of less than 1 ohm, a sub ohm coil combines a thicker wire with more airflow, allowing you to use more power before producing too much heat. More e-liquid is vaporized and larger clouds are created because the thicker wire has a larger surface area in contact with the cotton (wick).

When should I replace my coil?

Periodically, coils will need to be replaced; how long it takes depends on several factors. The coil’s lifespan is influenced by a number of factors, including power settings, e-liquid selection, and device usage. When you notice a burnt or bad taste coming from your atomizer, you should usually replace your coil.

How do I prime my coil to avoid premature burnout

Prior to firing the device for the first time, it is crucial to ensure that your coil is properly primed. You can accomplish this by following these easy steps:

Between drips, let the cotton inside absorb the e-liquid by dripping it into the coil’s side and top holes. Be generous; after the cotton is completely saturated, you can flick the coil to release any excess.
Fill your tank with vape juice and replace the coil.
Let it soak for a couple of minutes.
Pull on the atomizer as though you were vaping, but DO NOT fire the device, to take a few “Primer Puffs.”
If the power setting on your device is adjustable, set it to low and turn it on there.
Increase the power gradually until you reach your desired power level again.
You should have primed successfully now, huh?

What is e-liquid?

E-liquid can also be known as e-juice, vape liquid, vape juice or coil sauce and is the liquid that you drip into your vaping device which is heated by the coil to create vapour. It consists of just four ingredients: propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), flavouring and nicotine. The VG and PG are additives from the food industry that are typically used to sweeten or preserve food (more on this below).

It’s a good idea to try a few different brands to find the ideal vape juice for you because, in the end, the blend you select will be very personal.

You might like more VG for more flavor and more vapour production, or more PG for the throat hit. You might have a preference for a specific flavor group (mixed berries, tobacco, menthol, fruits, vanilla, caramel, etc.). A liquid with high, medium, or no nicotine at all may be your choice.

What PG/VG split do your e-liquids contain?

While most of our own brand’s UK-made Vape UK e-liquids are 50/50 VG/PG split, each flavor’s listing on our website details the precise blend.
